First Aid Awareness Course

First Aid Awareness Course

We all know that accidents happen. But they are much more common at work than you might think. According to the Health and Safety Executive, during 2019 – 2020 nearly 700,000 injuries were reported at work across the UK. First Aid Awareness is critical.

Making sure that your workplace is safe is obviously critical to reducing the risk and impact of hazards on your staff. Our accredited Health and Safety courses can help you with this. But even with the best working practices, injuries can be sustained by both staff and customers – often without warning.

Our First Aid awareness course has been designed to provide the basics of first aid treatment to staff working in a hospitality setting. You will learn how to effectively treat some of the most commonly sustained injuries and give you the skills to know how to react in an emergency situation.

Got a question about this training, or any of our other courses? Visit our FAQ page or email our team and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Why should I complete a First Aid course with The Training Terminal?

Our team at The Training Terminal are on a mission to provide high quality and affordable online courses for those working in the hospitality industry. Our industry-recognised courses aims to provide effective training on the critical topics to companies operating both in the UK and internationally including Health and Safety, Business Skills and much more

The First Aid awareness course is highly recommended for everyone working, at whatever level, in a food preparation or hospitality role. First aid is all about helping people to be able to respond safely and appropriately in an emergency. This course can help save lives and reduce the risk of increased harm, as well as providing usual reminders on how to keep environments safe for everyone.

So why should you choose us as a training provider? Unlike a conventional in-person training course, our training can be completed remotely. Staff can complete the modules in their own time and at their own pace. You don’t have to complete within a set time period – you can start and finish when you like.

If you are a manager, you can buy a group training booking. You can then send the link to your employees and monitor centrally which of your employees have completed the course.

The First Aid awareness course will take approximately two to three hours to complete.

What will I learn from the First Aid Awareness course?

Our First Aid awareness course is perfect for anyone working in the hospitality sector. If it is possible that you could witness an accident, either involving a fellow staff member or a client, this course can help. The course can be used as a new introduction to first aid, or as a refresher for those who have taken a course previously.

The modules covered in the First Aid Awareness course include:

First Aid at Work We introduce the principle of first aid, explain why it matters and introduce the basic processes you should know. We also cover accident reporting and knowing your role in an emergency.

Emergency First Aid This module covers the action you should take if someone has sustained an injury or fallen ill. We also discuss the processes you should complete afterwards to document the incident.

Injuries and Incidents In this section we explore some of the common injuries and illnesses that can occur at the workplace and how you should respond. Injuries and illnesses covered include choking, burns, experiencing a stoke and diabetes.

Wounds and Bleeding Finally, we tackle wounds and bleeding that can occur after an incident. You will learn how to identify different types of injuries and provide effective first aid in these situations.

Will I receive a certificate for completing the First Aid Awareness course?

Yes, you will receive a certificate once you have finished the course. To complete the course successfully, you must pass a final test that confirms you have learned the key information and skills within each module. There is also a short test at the end of each module so you can verify your progress as you go.

To pass, you must achieve a score of 21 out of 30 or more on the final test. You will then be able to download and print out your certificate of completion.

This course – like the rest of our extensive training portfolio – is endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality, which is widely recognised within the hospitality sector.
